By default, a newly purchased unlock code can be used a limited number of times. You may unlock the game (by entering the code) on two different computers within your control. Within your control means computers you are directly responsible for, that you and your immediate family use. You cannot unlock the game for a friend, or unlock the game on a public computer.
There are certain situations in which Customer Support can grant you additional uses of your unlock code. Please Email Support with a brief explanation for your request (if your computer recently "crashed," for example). Our policies for unlocking are designed to prevent piracy and illegal distribution of our games; we appreciate our customers and will work with you to resolve any difficulties. There are very few situations in which we are unable to extend the use of your code (constituted by unreasonably excessive use of the unlock code within a short period of time).
Note: Once a game is unlocked, it will remain unlocked unless license files have been deleted. There is no need to unlock the game every time you start it. If you are having this type of problem, please email us.
If you purchase a game from us and receive an unlock code, you never need to spend WildCoins on that game. We have two methods of payment available to play your favorite games: you can buy a game for a single payment, or you can play it like you would at an arcade by using our payment system of WildCoins.
If you buy the game, you will almost immediately receive an unlock code via email. If you do not have your unlock code, or did not receive it, see the instructions above this section for recovering a lost unlock code.
To unlock your game: First, start the game. You'll see the game launch page which will include a WildCoins slot. This page lets you do several things, including play the demo of your game using two free trials, use WildCoins to play the game, or buy WildGames titles. You'll see this launch page for each game we sell; only when the game is unlocked will the WildCoins slot disappear.
Look for the option that says "Use Unlock Code;" the link is down and to the right from the center of the page. To unlock the game, click the "Unlock" link you find (usually right above the banner). Doing so will bring up a box in which you will carefully type your unlock code, including dashes if necessary. You can also copy the code (using CTRL+C) and then paste it (using CTRL+V) into the box. When you've entered the code, click the "Unlock Game" button to finish unlocking it. Unlocking the game is imperative to ensure uninterrupted, free-for-life play.
Please note that installing a game using the Game Console will automatically unlock most games for you. If you do not see the link to unlock, the Game Console has already taken care of everything, and all you need to do is enjoy your game!
The most common cause for this error is a firewall, proxy server, or similar product preventing the game from sending and/or receiving the code validation data from our registration server.
Firewall Instructions
A firewall is one of many popular programs or hardware components that monitor and restrict access to your internet connection. Usually a firewall is invisible to you because it protects your computer while allowing you free access to the internet. However, in the case with many games, a firewall can prevent your game from connecting to the internet properly.
In general, what you’ll need to do is consult the documentation for your firewall in order to find the instructions to open a port in your firewall. This process is sometimes called port forwarding, or is sometimes referred to as simply opening a port, creating an exception, or adding a trusted program.
If you aren't sure how to create an exception for your WildTangent games, we have a very detailed guide available here that may help you.
